MY TESTIMONY: What's JRS Management Sound Services/Mega Music Of America Records? "You Know Me As A DJ...Now The Real Story!"
I Started JRS Management Sound Services and my record label "Mega Music Of America" in the fall of 1978. During that time I built a DJ set up out of dad's stereo equipment and along with my best friends, Steve "Bubba", Milton and Floyd created a group called Essence III under JRS Management. We played mostly high school dances. I Went on to DJ with the Funkerteers Traveling Disco, under the direction of Charles Blaine, thouthout the 80's and 90's.I then hooked up with, hot gospel DJ, Gerald Jerkins and he helped me produce my first artist on my label. " The Inspirational Voices Of Paducah, Kentucky". Gerald also refered me to Lee Erwin who urged Simon Robeson to hire me to then, WABD, Magic 1370. I started doing the gospel show, then middays...then "The Ride Home". I'll never forget the first song I introduced when I auditioned for radio. "Atomic Dog" by George Clnton. By the end of my secular hey-day in 1997, as a radio & club DJ I was pulling in a pretty healthy income per year. JRS Management the umbrella company has been revamped and is geared toward educating new artists of what is available in the music industry. Mega Music Of America is the label geared toward contemporary Gospel and R&B radio stations is about to launch it's first group of releases to radio and video shows. The DJ life is like the life of any rock or R&B superstar. Women, drugs & rock & roll. It made me money, but it can't save my soul and when the DJ bookings slowed, money dwindled, equiptment was lost or broken, I asked God..."What now?" His answer was clear. You know the music industry because I gave you the opportunity to learn it. Now you will work for me. You always knew how to play the piano, write music and lyrics. Now I want you to open your heart and mind and I will pour out the music and lyrics. I did just that. I gathered some of my closest friends and associates and they came together to sing with me. I called the first musical offering and the group "Saint Paul". Not named after my home church, but after the works of the Apostle Paul. The journey the Apostle Paul went through was similar to my journey. Although I don't go around building churches in other lands I minister to those who, like myself, was consumed by a life outside of God's love for us. God loved us so much that He gave his son's life to wash away our sin and if we confess our love for Him we can have life more abundant and eternal with Him. I have learned that once you become a soldier for God. The enemy then comes to battle you. Satan is slick. He has tried to enter my life through my friends, family, job and in my addictions to my secular life. The Bible teaches us that Satan's battleground is your mind. If you cast out the Devil and believe that the battle truly is not yours its the Lord's then there is nothing you cannot do. Elder Ike Richardson, CEO of CI Gospel Music & Promotions; Rev. Whatever you've done or was done to you...Know this! God never gives you more than you can bear. His love for you is everlasting and He is a forgiving God. If you seek Him, He will answer. It may not happen with a thunder and lightning response, but know this...When He answers your prayers and when you truly seek His righteousness His answer to you will be one you cannot deny. You will know as you study God's word, The Bible, that His answer for your future can be found in there. This way you know that the answer you seek is truly His. Remember Satan hears prayers too. I've made that mistake. The Saint Paul project and Undivided is just the beginning. I have written 3 LP's of music and I am currently in the studio finishing EP II.
